Cooking bread – Dorze, Ethiopia

Ethiopia is one of the most incredible countries you will visit. Sadly, some people still associate Ethiopia with the severe drought from the early 1980s where images of malnourished children and starving adults were splashed across television screens.  Today Ethiopia is a very different place – one of the fastest developing economies in Africa, and you will see people frequently using their smartphones while sporting the latest fashions.

Despite this economic development, the unique Ethiopian culture can easily be found. From the smallest village where little has changed over thousands of years to developed towns and cities, the language, food, Orthodox Church, and hospitality of Ethiopia provides the visitor with something far different from any other destination.

Ethiopia is my favourite country in Africa – and even after six visits, I am keen to explore it further.
